Your winter jackets will become a central part of the wardrobe as you will wear them often. Having said this, there are also reasons to own more than one winter jacket, to vary the impression of the clothes you wear, and to better adapt them in terms of style and colour to the rest of your outfit. Roughly speaking, life becomes more fun and stylish with some variety and more stylistic choices. The three options below complement each other when matched with a wardrobe which covers widely varying temperatures as well as stylistic needs. Everything from the possibility of more formal combinations, to sportier leisure looks and clothes for really cold days.
A navy peacoat is one of the most timeless and useful pieces of outerwear you can own and wear. The garment that was the standard jacket for British sailors during the early 20th century, quickly found its way into the men's everyday wardrobe. Tiger of Sweden has made a peacoat in a relaxed design, where the coarse fabric of wool felt and the jacket's double rows of buttons make it a short, slightly more casual version of an outer coat. It matches well with coarsely knit turtlenecks, where the collars of the jacket and the turtleneck complement each other perfectly. During the very coldest days, you can wear a thin down vest under the jacket and thus significantly expand its range of use.
This black parka from Woolrich will keep you warm during the coldest days of winter. The parka has several technical properties, where the hood is practical on snowy or rainy days with a lot of wind and the Gore-tex membrane keeps you warm and dry. The parka is also a very good way to add a more casual and relaxed touch to your outfit if you wear a suit. It will be a natural complement to a pair of chinos and a chunkier pair of boots to balance out the heavier fabrics, and you can easily add details in accent colours for a more playful feel.
The down jacket from French Pyrenex will easily become a go-to favourite in the winter wardrobe. A warm and comfortable winter jacket with inspiration from fresh Alpine winds gives it both a style and emotional connection to pleasant moments on sun-kissed mountain slopes. Blending in technical garments and details to your look, like a pair of comfortable trail shoes from Canada's Norda, adds both practical benefits but also gives a sporty edge to the outfit combination.
